Description
The footage is really colorful and full of emotion.
00:00:00 - 00:00:54 Dancing - a really joyous colourful event with a jumping ska rhythm. Possibly shot in a Church in Battersea.
00:00:55 - 00:07:06 Shot in black & white. Very distorted & doubled up sound. Deacon Wilson and the rest of the congregation welcome people (dressed in white) into the church after they have been baptised, there is a big queue of people waiting to be welcomed & a choir sings "Where Jesus is, tis heaven there" in the background.
00:05:50 - 00:06:50 Sam's lighting setup can clearly be seen.
00:07:38 - 00:10:31 People take communion round a table. An elderly white couple standing at the end, everybody else is black. The hymn "Break thou the lord of life" is being sung (finishes 00:12:31).
00:10:37 - 00:12:31 Wide shot of the communion table.
00:12:31 - 00:14:19 The music changes, again with a joyous rhythm - some ladies are kneeling down and washing people's feet while people clap and shake tambourines. "Life was given for me" is being sung
00:14:19 - 00:20:10 Back to colour film. Very clear lighting. We see a blue, empty baptism pool. Then cut to a wide shot incorporating Sam's full lighting setup (8 X 500 watt bulbs) with lots of women dressed in white apart from a few people with bright red elements to their clothes - a striking shot. The continues and we see the lights are help up by lengths of wood held together with string and we start to see some men in very smart suits. A single white man is visible at 17 mins 06 secs in.
00:24:07 - 00:25:20 A close shot of very passionate woman, with closed eyes, singing and rhythmically waving their hands. The shot moves on to men holding their arms up high, lost in emotion. Young boys almost look they are crying with emotion at 24mins 54 secs.
00:25:14 Bishop Johnston.
00:25:24 - 00:25:47 A clear and colorful shot of some musicians (we can't hear them playing) Their names are Deacon Jarret and Deacon Mark, both on Guitar.
00:26:30 Christening at Paster Rows's church on Effra Road. At 26mins 30secs, 2 bright green shirts really stand out.
00:27:26 Sam's hand can clearly be seen holding a microphone!
00:29:40 Orange stripy hat with a bobble.
00:29:50 - 00:30:50 A hymn starts, we see a line of women in white, holding red books.
00:31:31 - 00:31:39 Blue hat & red hats, moving on to a closeup of a baby, held by a woman in a green shirt.
00:31:55 - 00:31:39 Baby in a pink bobble hat.
00:34:03 A very emotional woman rocks & cries, then the camera swing across to a smiling pastor (very clean well lit shot).
