EXHIBITION - People, Signs & resistance: On the front-line
An exhibition inspired by unique film shot between the 1960's and 1980's by Clovis Salmon, a first generation Jamaican migrant who arrived in London in the 1950's, known locally as "Sam The Wheels" due to the cycle repair service he operates from his home in Railton Road the "Front Line" of Brixton.
A selection of artists (George Butler, Nada Prlja, Tim Blake, George Amponsah) and participants of all ages have produced video and installation artworks in response to Clovis' original film archive.

28th Jan 7-9pm. An evening with Sam
Clovis Salmon AKA Sam the Wheels has seen many wonderful things through his camera come and join writer Michael McMillan for an evening of relaxed conversation and music with Sam and friends.
9th Feb 6-8pm. Tate Modern community film screening
A screening of the edited highlights of Sams films and an introduction by the man himself.
11th Feb 7-9pm. Discussion evening
With more government control over our lives and our means to express ourselves politically, where are the new spaces of resistance? A round table discussion where artists, writers, young people and political activists come together to discuss this issue.
14th Feb 1-4pm. Family Day
At 198 contempoarry Arts & Learning. Come get creative this weekend at our drop-in family workshop. Design and make 3D postcards and identity signs. Make your mark on our giant map of Railton Road. For all ages and abilities, FREE, no need to book.
